Beates VW Bulli mit Offroad-F\u00e4higkeiten bereichert unseren kleinen Fuhrpark an Zweisitzern seit einiger Zeit &#8211; und da will man nat\u00fcrlich wissen, wie der T5 namens &#8222;Rocky&#8220; (weil er einem T5 Rockton gleicht, ohne formell einer zu sein) seine grobstolligen Gummif\u00fc\u00dfe auf den Grund bringt. Bislang war der <em>Bitibulli<\/em> (ein anderer Spitzname, der mit der Verballhornung des Vornamens meiner Gattin durch israelische M\u00fcnder zusammenh\u00e4ngt) ja nur auf Asphalt und Feld- &amp; Waldwegen in Nordost- und S\u00fcddeutschland unterwegs (-> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bechmann.org\/amphibium\/mikro-abenteuer-iv-bodensee-penisautos-roboziegen\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"6493\">Bodensee: Penisautos &amp; Roboziegen<\/a>) und konnte nicht wirklich zeigen, was in ihm steckt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Da der Ford Ranger mit Wohnkabine nach wie vor Teil unseres Fahrzeug-Portfolios ist, haben wir einen Vergleichstest ersonnen: In rund 100 Kilometern Entfernung unseres Heimatortes liegt nahe des hessischen Alsfeldes das Offroad-Gel\u00e4nde des &#8222;B\u00f6sen Wolfs&#8220;. Der Name bezieht sich auf ein Br\u00fcder-Grimm-M\u00e4rchen &#8211; denn die Gegend ist auch als Rotk\u00e4ppchenland bekannt. Und der Besitzer eines umgepfl\u00fcgten Tagebaugebietes stellt dieses am Wochenende allen &#8211; gegen ein Entgelt &#8211; zu Verf\u00fcgung, die ihre 4&#215;4-Fahrzeuge zwischen Trail-Buggy und Reise-Lkw in Schwierigkeitsgraden zwischen leicht und sehr schwer ausprobieren wollen (und ihre F\u00e4higkeiten, das Fahrzeug zu bewegen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Am Empfang bekommt man einen Plan des Gel\u00e4ndes und eine Regel-Liste in die Hand gedr\u00fcckt. Der Plan l\u00e4sst ermessen, wo man sich und den Offroader gerne mal testen m\u00f6chte &#8211; und wo lieber nicht. Sinnvoll ist es, mit mindestens zwei Vehikeln anzureisen &#8211; dann kann das eine das andere aus irgendeinem Schlamassel herausziehen; das \u00fcbernimmt auch das Team vom &#8222;B\u00f6sen Wolf&#8220;, wenn n\u00f6tig, und kommt dann mit Bagger oder Radlader. Das wird teuer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wir sind trotzdem alleine hin &#8211; einmal mit dem Ford Ranger, einmal mit dem VW Bus zwei Wochen sp\u00e4ter. Dem Ranger haben wir gr\u00f6\u00dfere Offroad-Kapazit\u00e4ten zugemessen, denn im Gegensatz zu &#8222;Rocky&#8220; hat er eine Gel\u00e4nde-Untersetzung (&#8222;4L&#8220;). Und die macht nun mal einen entscheidenden Unterschied aus. Daran \u00e4ndert auch nicht, dass er keine Differentialsperren hat, die der VW Bus wiederum auf der Hinterachse wirksam werden lassen kann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-tiled-gallery jeweils einen halben Tag auf dem Gel\u00e4nde und seinen verschiedenen Ecken und Winkeln herumgekurvt. Klar war von vorneherein, dass sich weder Ranger noch <em>Bitibulli<\/em> mit Unimog oder Land Rover, die wir Marokko, S\u00fcdafrika, Namibia und Island gefahren sind, messen k\u00f6nnen. Aber letztlich ging es ja auch darum, herauszufinden, was man den beiden 4&#215;4-Campingmobilen zumuten kann und was nicht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Summarisch: In der Tat schneidet der Ranger unterm Strich etwas besser ab, weil er wegen des Umschaltens auf 4L steile Abschnitte besser rauf und runter kommt. Und das, obwohl er das Gewicht der Wohnkabine auf der Hinterachse verkraften muss. Der Bus dagegen ist wegen seines leichten h\u00f6lzernen Innenausbaus deutlich leichter (auch wenn eingebaute das Zelt-Dach den Schwerpunkt nach oben verlagert).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div Differentialsperre konnte der Bulli allerdings nicht voll ausspielen, weil es zwar wegen Regens einige schlammige Passagen und Wasserl\u00f6cher auf dem Gel\u00e4nde gab &#8211; aber durch die zogen beide Fahrzeuge problemlos durch. Die Bus-Konstruktion bedingt auch, dass er weniger verschr\u00e4nken kann als der Ranger, der ja als Pick-up f\u00fcr Gel\u00e4nde-Anwendungen von vorneherein konzipiert ist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Europa existieren unter Offroad-Aspekten einige schwierige Gebiete &#8211; etwa in den Pyren\u00e4en oder dem Balkan: F\u00fcr diese w\u00fcrde ich den Ranger vorziehen. Aber alles andere, auch viele Orte in Spanien, Portugal und Griechenland, die wir mit dem Unimog besucht haben, k\u00f6nnen mit dem Bitibulli problemlos besucht werden.
